An Afternoon with Paul McKenna

Last weekend, my Mum and I attended a workshop on ‘how to change your life in just a few hours’ by Paul McKenna at the Mind Body and Spirit Festival. This was my first experience with Paul but Mum has read a few of his books so was familiar with his concepts.

From what I’ve learned, Paul is the number one hypnotherapist in the world and is famous for helping people deal with difficult problems, from weight to smoking to depression. There were several people who mentioned his books: I Can Make You THIN, I Can Mend Your Broken Heart and I Can Make You Happy, which I believe is his latest book. It really was remarkable to hear of so many stories who’s lives had changed for the better after reading his books or seeing him on TV and practicing his teachings. Also, I was very impressed with his use of personal anecdotes he used throughout the session too, which made him seem a bit more human and personal.

He uses a form of hypnotherapy to help adjust emotions and it was incredible to see him changing people’s mindsets right before my eyes. He talked about not letting the ‘brain run you’, which is a very interesting concept and when I think of it and a perspective I haven’t really considered. He also focused on our physiology, emotions, the law of attraction, happiness, the unconscious mind, phobias, our comfort zones and stepping out of them, the Gaia Theory and so much more in the space of 3 or 4 hours.

The session was so fruitful and it really was insane watching and listening to this man who is evidently experienced in his field of work and knowledgeable when it comes to people.

There is so much that I want to read up on and learn more about because I came out of the session feeling fantastic. I’m so happy that I got to share it with my Mum, because she does value his work so I know she appreciated seeing him in action.
