Mind Over Matter 

Can you ever have full control of your body?
Once, not too long ago, I heard a story about a man who was able to inhale water from a very intimate orifices of his body. Apparently, he could fully control his actions through strong and dedicated Yoga practice. It’s made me think, what else can the body do if we really put our minds to it?

It’s the whole concept of ‘mind over matter’, which is a quote I remember my Mum reciting when I was a young girl. The idea that if you put your mind to it, you really can accomplish anything. This could mean many things. It could literally mean using your mind to concoct the most logical approach resulting in an action or could be utter belief and confidence in something that eventually becomes reality etc.


Putting myself to the test

Living in England, it can often get pretty cold. I would love to try and block out the cold as much as possible to enjoy winter more. Winter is a beautiful season – crisp and fresh – and of course I wear layers upon layers, with large coats, scarves, hats and gloves but the cold still inhibits my appreciation of winter.

I’ve been practicing mindfulness when it comes to the cold, not much but a little. I think I am definitely getting somewhere. It’s taken a while but I’m slowly adjusting my body to react in a more positive way by training it.

If a man can inhale water through a part of his body that really shouldn’t be inhaling anything, can I block out the cold?

We’ll find out.
