Raspberries? Ooh, yes please

I’ve never been too keen on raspberries but recently I’ve started getting a craving for the little red drops of heaven. I prefer them chilled and quite enjoy them with my Branflakes in the morning.

I decided to do some research into the beautiful fruit because I need to stay away from certain foods (#tummyprobs). If I do like a food, I have a tendency to eat too much of it, which my tummy doesn’t always like.

During my research, I managed to find out some cool facts! Raspberries:

  1. Are a great fresh fruit but are also great preserved too, without losing any nutrients. My Dad used to make berry smoothies using frozen berries because they do not go out of date as quick.
  1. Have been researched and researched and findings show that raspberries are very high in antioxidants and these antioxidants are higher in organic than in non-organic raspberries.
  1. Are low in fat and calories and high in fibre and vitamin C – GREAT!
  1. Go very well with my Branflakes and other delicious foods. I have started introducing dairy into my diet. This means that I have also been introducing probiotics. Let me tell you, yogurt goes great with raspberries (although strawberries are my favourite pairing!)

I’m sure there are tones more! I’ve very much fallen deeply in love with them and they don’t seem to irritate my tummy touch wood! Happy days!
