What is Love?

I go through phases throughout the year when I absolutely love chick-flicks and romantic films. When I was about 15, I couldn’t get enough of Nicholas Sparks. I had watched A Walk To Remember for the first time (it still gets me emosh thinking about it. I just read the book again – right now!) and I became ADDICTED. I watched the film 100 times on Sky Movies and then begged my Mum to buy all of his novels and the DVD, which I watched another 200 times (but haven’t watched it in a wee while). I then read the book another couple 100 times and carried it round with me like a purse. I absolutely adore Dear John, The Notebook and The Rescue too – I swear, I don’t have an addictive personality – Ha! Hah! Hahaha… aaanywhoo!

The other books are scattered around my room back home..

I love all of these books!

I will always remember the passage in A Walk to Remember based on Corinthians 13:4 that reads:

A Walk to Remember:

“Love is always patient and kind.

It is never jealous.

Love is never boastful or conceited.

It is never rude or selfish.

It does not take offense and is not resentful.

Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth.

It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.”

Corinthians 13:4:

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

I’d also add that love is giving and accepting and never judges.

And that’s how I feel about love. That’s what I strive towards.

Although the word is so powerful, I use the world ‘love’ a lot when I’m referring to something trivial things that I like as well as when I’m really passionate about something. “I love that!”, “I love that film”, “I love Lucy…”

After reading this book, it was the first time I actually thought about what love is. I’m going to post more on this subject and try and scratch the surface of this deep and awesome word but I just wanted to share my introduction to how I feel about love and what made me think about the term.

Surround your self with love and love will allow you to surround itself with you.

I love love.

Love makes the world go ‘round.

Peace and love, man! Peace and love xxx
